3950x temp spikes. Sep 21, 2020 · Hey guys, Just got a 3950x and no matter what I seem to do it the temperature is always really high. 0. I am using a mini-itx case and I wonder if this is normal for this CPU. I am running a custom loop with 3x120mm rad, and using liquid metal. The CPU temp on idle is jumping between 44C to up to 60C within seconds, It can go down to 44C and suddenly jump back up to 55C. I suspect that the temp reading is typically too slow to truly get real-time output. I have a Kraken X62 280mm liquid cooler (recommended by AMD), and my CPU idles at a minimum of about 45-50°C.
